a new start

Well, I think I'll try this again since life is a lot different now and we are so far from our friends and family. A quick recap: We finally got pregnant with twins while living in Canada. After Christmas, Lillian started to show signs that she wasn't doing well inside and we had frequent doctor visits to check on her well being. We finally decided to do the best thing for us and the babies was to move to Connecticut with my family and to see the OB's my mom works for and a specialist there to try to get the pregnancy as far as possible. We made it to 32 wks when they told us it was time for delivery. Lillian had shown no growth in the past 2 wks and a c-section was scheduled. Dr. Addy that my mom works for was nice enough to come to Hartford Hospital to do my section. It was so nice to have a familiar face there to do the surgery. Alexander and Lillian were born on 3/20/09 at 3 lb 11 oz and 2 lb 5 oz. Lillian ended up doing very well considering her size. Alexander had a rough road initially. He was on the ventalator for 5 days with extremely underdeveloped lungs and possible pneumonia on top of that. It was rough watching your child being so sick and helpless. The nurses and doctors at CCMC were wonderful and helped us through the process. It was very hard to be a nurse in this situation and to give up control of your children's health to others. They continued to improve with little set backs occasionally but were home in 7 wks. Alex was only thought to have to be there 4, but his lungs were a setback. We have now moved into our own house again, in Pennsylvania. Left canada never to return, kind of weird. We are now in the process of starting over, getting Julian into school and helping him meet friends and getting into a good routine with the babies.
